Our effective approach to massage...
Hello, My name is Shinji Tsukamoto. I am the owner and the principal therapist of Total Body Care, Inc. My training in Myotherapy was received in Japan. Myotherapy literally means 'Muscle Treatment.' Myotherapy and shiatsu has taken many years to master and perfect. I have chosen key elements of Myotherapy and combined it with the effectiveness of shiatsu (Japanese finger pressure point treatment). The marriage of effective elements from both styles resulted in what I call 'Myo-shiatsu'. One of the most effective techniques in therapeutic massage and bodywork available.
The benefits of Myo-shiatsu:
- Loosens up target 'tight' muscles, pin-pointing the right 'pressure points.'
- Also loosens up muscles that are supportive to the target muscle by checking muscular balance, connection and relation to its tension.
- Allows us to give exact amount of pressure for each client, all the while assuring the thier comfort level
Record Keeping

We track the progress of each client/patient ensuring that we are providing exactly what is needed to improve specific conditions. Your major complaint, pain quality, tight muscles, constitution, daily behavior patterns, are recorded upon your first visit. We update the record each and every session thereafter. Updating your progress with detailed information allows our therapists to deliver the highest quality and most progressive massage and bodywork session available.
Shiatsu vs. Myo-Shiatsu

Myo-shiatsu follows a specific muscular 'line.' Palpation techniques from myotherapy are employed. This is where the muscle fibers are inspected precisely for irregularity, tension and especially hidden tension. Your 'knots' and 'trigger points' are skillfully located. After that, the right amount of pressure and approach is used to diffuse the tension effectively. Myo-shiatsu technique allows for more efficiency and effectiveness in less time. The results will have you feeling 'freer and lighter' as many of our clients have often said.
Hip Massage
Hip massage is vital to proper function and movement. The hips are the 'seat of the spine'. Dormant tension in the hips effect the low back and legs. Because of this, hip massage is a excellent to address low back pain, swollen legs, hip joint problems, and sciatica. It requires high level of skill to massage this area to and palpate the specific tension spots.
Custom Body Care Advice

We consult each client gving them the advice that suits you which includes: stretch, posture, and exercise. Self-care is important because we believe your condition will not improve without changing your daily habits. Every person has different life style and different habbits. We take some time to consult with you after the session. When done regularly these little things have the ability help transform you.
Stretch advice
We recommend static stretch in our clinic. Static stretching is a safe and effective method to lengthen and loosen your muscles without pain. It should not be too hard or too easy. You should feel just the right amount of tension upon the stretch and hold that position for 10 ~ 20 seconds. We will target the specific muscles that need to be lengthened. On the other hand, some people tend to do ballistic stretch. Balistic stretching is a form ofpassive stretching or dynamic stretching in a bouncing motion. With ballistic stretching you are prone to injure vital muscles and nerves with the sharp jerking movements.
